Chapter Ten
âWe have found him, Jefe.â
Montejo looked up from the papers he had been reading. âWhere?â
Hector, a man who had served his family for the past thirty years, and one of only a few he actually trusted, stepped closer to the desk and laid a stack of photos in front of him. âWe watched the Wyoming facility the one we identified inherited. We got a hit a few hours ago.â
They images captured from the videos at the compound in Guatemala had been grainy, and not the best quality. It had taken precious time to get them cleaned up enough to start finding out who the men were with Bateman. Somehow, the way they moved with such synchronicity, he knew that they were a different team from the Pathfinders. It was easy to determine who the leader of that group was, and all their efforts had gone into finding his identity.
The more they learned about Second Lieutenant Devon Roberts, the more Montejo became convinced that he would take the wounded men back to his farm to recover. He had also learned about the famous Sniper Team Bravo, and the tactical training facility they had started in butt fuck nowhere. If this Maddox Devereaux was there, then that was where he needed to go.
From what he had seen in the videos, the majority of the men who had stormed in that day had been there for the large fucker Alejandro had taken such pleasure in questioning. His heart ached at the thought of his brother.
Montejo looked down at the photos and felt a surge of anger roll through him. The face of the man who was walking across the front lawn of some large farm in Wyoming, was the face that haunted his dreams. The images of the last time he had seen this manâs face replayed through his mind. The night this bastardo killed his brother. He had watched the video from start to finish, witnessing his brotherâs brutal killing at the hand of this dead man walking, and had vowed in that moment that he would be the one to end this fuckerâs life.
Montejo stood up from the desk. âSpread the word. We leave in three days. Take what we need to level this compound to the ground. I want this man dead, and I want every person he has ever cared for killed in front of him. I want him to feel the pain I did when he took my brother. Then, and only then, will I finish the job Alejandro started. I will skin this man until I hit bone.â
Hector nodded his understanding and quickly left the room. The Merida family was known for their inability to forgive just as much as they were renowned for their thirst for vengeance. He would not stop until every single man in that compound was dead. He would exhaust every resource, every dollar, and every man he had to ensure that happened.
Maddox Devereaux was already dead. He just didnât know it yet.
